Our energy value chain

Capturing value from wellhead to market

We are proud to play a role in the development of Canada’s rich energy resources. Our activities are based in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, and begin with our deep inventory of properties in the Montney

Through unconventional development, we efficiently produce, process and transport some of the lowest cost energy in North America. Learn how we create and capture value along the energy value chain.

Exploration, development and production

We are in the business of developing and producing crude oil, natural gas, and NGLs in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. Through our strategy, we acquire and develop resource-rich properties that provide near- and long-term growth. Today, our focus is in the Montney, where we have more than one million net acres of contiguous land holdings.

The Montney

The Montney is a vast resource with multi-layer development opportunities. This allows us to produce energy efficiently with a limited surface footprint. From one well pad site, multiple wells are drilled and completed, which maximizes capital efficiency and reduces environmental impacts compared to conventional development.

Technical expertise

Through seismic and drilling activities, we identify and quantify future development opportunities.

  • Our subsurface team consists of highly experienced geologists and engineers, who work together to analyze reservoir data to inform our development plans.
  • Above the surface, we work proactively with stakeholders, Indigenous communities, governments and regulators on development plans. Once approved and constructed, our operations team works collaboratively with our subsurface team to optimize our drilling and completions activities.

Our technical expertise above and below the surface has led to consistent, strong operational and financial performance - this is a differentiator for ARC.

Large network of owned-and-operated infrastructure

Core to our strategy of profitable and efficient development is owning and operating our infrastructure. Across our field in Alberta and BC, we own and operate natural gas and liquids processing facilities, water handling infrastructure, pipelines and roads.

Owning and operating these facilities provides:

  • greater operational control
  • higher reliability
  • lower operating costs
These benefits are driven by our commitment to operational excellence in all that we do.

Diversified end markets provide optionality

Our diversified natural gas transportation portfolio provides connectivity to five key markets in North America. This optionality enables ARC to capture the most value for every molecule we produce.

As Canada’s largest producer of condensate, we market crude oil and liquids within Western Canada.  Condensate is a premium product that is critical as a diluent in the movement of Canada’s oil sands dilbit production to market. Through confirmed transportation commitments in the area, we are well-positioned to help meet strong demand for this high-valued product.

Our marketing strategy reflects our commitment to risk management and long-term profitability:

  • We secure firm transportation capacity to ensure our production moves to market over the short and long term.
  • Marketing arrangements are structured to minimize transportation costs.

LNG Exports

Our transportation portfolio provides pipeline access to the Canadian west coast and the US Gulf Coast, enabling our participation in the North American LNG export market.
