Team ARC hits the ice to end homelessness

Team ARC plays with purpose to shut out homelessness

At ARC, giving back is core to our culture. Our teams of talented women and men go above and beyond to represent ARC in our communities and make meaningful impacts by supporting charitable organizations and important causes in the places where we live and operate. Last week, Team ARC set its sights on the growing issue of homelessness when it hit the ice for the 16th annual Hockey Helps the Homeless Tournament in Calgary.

Fifteen employees from departments across ARC spent months fundraising before they strapped on the skates for a one-day tournament intended to help Canadians secure a safe place to call home. Together, the team raised more than $17,000 and went undefeated through all three games.

Each year, teams of amateur hockey players are paired with retired professionals who lend their talents to help push the team to victory. Team ARC was thrilled to welcome former NHLers Ken Sutton and Claude Vilgrain to the roster this year. The pair brought additional bench strength to a talented line up that swept through their division with a perfect 3 – 0 record.

Overall, 18 teams participated in this year’s tournament and together the event raised a record breaking $357,000 that will be used to support YW Calgary, Inn from the Cold, the Trellis Society, and Habitat for Humanity

Congratulations to Team ARC on a great showing and thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s event for your contributions to our community.

ARC is proud to support the communities where we live and operate through corporate giving, employee donations, and ongoing volunteerism. Learn more about our giving focus areas, or submit a community partnership application to apply for support for your community initiative.
