ARC makes $300,000 commitment to long-term community partner Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids

All donations in the month of May, up to $50,000, will be matched by ARC for the next 5 years.

This year, ARC has teamed up with long-time community partner Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) to announce a 5-year commitment to their annual Brown Bagging It campaign. Every May, ARC will match all donations up to $50,000. ARC will also be making an additional donation of $10,000 per year for five years – for a combined total of $300,000 towards this worthwhile cause.

"For over 15 years, ARC Resources has dedicated itself to care for Calgary's kids. Their commitment extends beyond corporate responsibility; they actively encourage their employees to volunteer in our kitchen several times a year, preparing thousands of sandwiches, packing hundreds of fruit and veggies. ARC Resources also plays a vital role in supporting BB4CK campaigns, which are crucial in raising the funds needed to care for over 7,000 kids every school day. As a community-funded organization, we depend on the generosity of our community and partners like ARC Resources to make our work possible. We are thankful for their dedication to ensuring that every kid has the food they need to reach their full potential".

Recognized on May 25, Brown Bagging It Day was first established in 2017 to drive awareness about the number of children in Calgary arriving at school each day without the food required to thrive. The donation match is intended to double the impact of all community donations and supercharge the support BB4CK provides for Calgary kids facing food insecurity.

“Throughout the year, BB4CK ensures Calgary kids have access to a nutritious lunch so that they can focus on excelling in the classroom and achieving their full potential. We’re proud to continue our long-term partnership with BB4CK. By matching donations during the campaign, we hope to double the impact of the Brown Bagging It campaign and raise awareness for food insecurity impacting children in our community.”

ARC has had a long history with BB4CK and it’s a cause our employees are passionately involved in. An ARC team heads to the organization’s kitchen monthly to help make lunches for Calgary. Over the last couple years, ARC teams have volunteered more than 600 hours creating healthy lunches for Calgary students who would otherwise have gone without.
