Team ARC raises over $109,000 for the 2023 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer

At ARC, we focus our giving efforts on causes that our employees are passionate about and initiatives that create a positive impact in our communities. This year, ARC proudly joined the fight to conquer cancer by participating in the 2023 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer. Through our sponsorship, we unleashed the power of our ARC team as they volunteered, and collectively cycled over 4,600 km, and raised more than $109,000 for a cause that’s important to our people and the communities we live in.

The Cause

In Alberta, nearly 60 people are diagnosed with cancer every day. To support advanced treatment, care and research across the province, the Alberta Cancer Foundation leads several inspirational campaigns to raise important funds for the Alberta Health Services cancer centres, so that Albertans facing cancer can receive world-class care, right here in our own backyard.

The annual Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer event is the province’s largest cycling fundraiser and one of Canada’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising events that brings together thousands of riders to honour the courageous Albertans who have shown their strength through a cancer experience. Participants ride for those still with us and those we have lost, while raising money for innovative cancer research, detection, treatment and care in Alberta.

The Team

Team ARC was made up of employees, friends, and family members with a mix of experience – from avid cyclists to first-time riders. Some rode in memory of loved ones, and some to push themselves with a physical challenge. All united by a common cause and a desire to give back.

“I’ve had the opportunity to participate in the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer event in past years, and saw first-hand how it empowers people to build deeper relationships and accomplish something big by rallying around a common goal. I’m so thrilled to be a part of this team and honoured to serve as its captain. I can’t believe how fast Team ARC has grown, in riders and dollars raised, and it was great to see how each of our riders and volunteers created their own legendary experiences during the weekend of the Tour.”

The Result

Together with riders from across Alberta, the two-day event helped to raise more than $5.6 million that will help to fund Alberta’s cancer centres and provide advanced treatment, care and research for thousands of Albertans.

As a first-time participant, Team ARC set out to recruit 20 employees to raise $50,000 – a goal that our team enthusiastically achieved. In a few short weeks, we assembled 26 riders who, thanks to the support of their friends, families, and colleagues were able to raise more than $109,000 and finish in the top 10 for funds raised.

Caring about others is part of who we are at ARC. With 23,000 new cancer diagnoses expected in Alberta this year, we know the funds we raised for this year’s Tour will go a long way to support many in our organization and in our communities.

Thank you to all our riders and volunteers for your commitment to helping our communities.
